Do you need a Lift to your voting site?” The Prince Hall Masons of Rhode Island have joined forces with the Rhode Island Women’s Initiative and historically Black Sororities and Fraternities to provide people rides so to the polls on Election Day.

“With this election so important, we want to make sure that our community is exercising their right to vote”, Prince Reid, Most Worshipal Master of the Prince Hall Masons of Rhode Island said in a statement.

“For senior citizens, or a single working Mom or family who are overwhelmed, a convenient work or financial pressure, a ride to the polls can mean the difference between voting and staying at home”. We just want to get as many people in Providence to the Polls.”

Even if it’s just helping somebody on their lunch break get to and from their polling place.”

Through our members, community events and Social Media the Lodge will offer rides to voters.
Located at 583 Eddy Street, the idea is to use the Masonic Temple as a hub for pickups/drop offs to and from the polls.

Last month the Prince Hall Masons of Rhode Island, a chapter of the oldest African- American Fraternal organization partnered with the NAACP Providence Branch and Theta Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Providence Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Kappa Phi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and members of Kappa Alpha Psi, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity for a Voter Registration Drive.

We want to encourage our members, our community, and the younger and first time voters the impact of voting. If  by opening our Lodge for events like this and offering rides to the Polls, can make a difference that we are all the better for it, says Prince Reid, Jr. the Lodge Grandmaster.
