Memorial Day, a federal holiday celebrated each year on the last Monday in May, gives us a chance to remember those who have been lost while serving in the United States military.

The day originated after the Civil War to honor those who had died in battle, but now has grown to honor all those who have passed in the line of service to the United States Armed Forces.

Continuing the Prince Hall Freemasons long history of service to the country, many of the brethren served in the Spanish-American War (1898), World War I (1914-1918) and World War II (1939-1945).

Many of the members of the Prince Hall Masons of Rhode Island Jurisdiction have followed in this long tradition by serving in these wars, the Korean Conflict and the more recent Gulf and Afghanistan wars.

The Prince Hall Masons of Rhode Jurisdiction salutes our brothers who are Veterans including Most Worshipful Grand Master Prince Reid, Jr.
